Here’s When App Ranking Baselines for ASO – Apple App Store Can Help!
When you have an app and want to attain high rankings in the Apple App Store
When you want to identify where your app ranks for specific keywords to help you decide which ones to target
When you want to identify which keywords your competitors are targeting
Launched in 2008, the Apple App Store now has nearly 1 million apps, boasting a staggering 50 billion installs globally. Rising popularity amongst both users and app developers means that some categories are becoming increasingly competitive. If you want to maximise your app’s visibility using App Store Optimisation (ASO) techniques you firstly need to understand your ranking baseline (i.e. your current rank) and conduct in-depth analysis on your target keywords to identify the best ranking opportunities.
Ranking data collected at this stage will enable you to track the impact of subsequent promotional activities or future updates to your app. It is also important to identify where your app ranks against specific keywords as this will help you to decide which ones to target when conducting ASO to maximise visibility in the Apple App Store.
We will take your target keywords and collect rank and competition data for each keyword. We will also collect keywords targeted by your top 3 competitors.
The data will be delivered to you in an Excel format, ready for you to use as part of your ASO efforts.
The process begins by completing a briefing questionnaire to clarify your objectives for the project. This briefing will be visible to all the team members involved with delivering the service and is the foundation for all our quality checks. We will ask you to provide a list of target keywords that you have already identified as being popular and relevant to your target market, and will also need to know your top three competitors.
If your app is already live in the Apple App Store, our app marketing specialists will take your keyword research and collect the current rank of your app against these keywords. In doing so, we’ll be able to identify not only if or where your app is ranking, but how competitive each keyword is. These are important factors for determining the keywords your app should target; you may want to preserve your existing rankings but also utilise opportunities where your app does not rank.
If your app is not currently live in the app store, we cannot determine any rankings, however, we can assess if your app can realistically rank for specific keywords by analysing competitive factors.
We will also assess which keywords your top 3 competitors are targeting to see if this can uncover any new keywords that you can use to boost your app’s rank. If any historical data is available, we will produce a graph to show how your app and your competitors have performed in the relevant category of the Apple App Store.
You will receive our ranking baseline report in an Excel format.
